i picked up a few pieces of wood at rockler,Pau Fero,Lauro Petro and Texas Ebony, any does and dont's would be appreciated.TIA.(if the spelling is wrong blame rockler not me)
Pau ferro is also called morado and Bolivian Rosewood, though not a true rosewood. I find it very easy to turn and finishes to a high gloss easily. I've gotten good results with Mylands friction polish and CA, but it was very glossy just sanding to 12000 MM. I really like it, it reminds me of good walnut, but harder.
I have some wood that is labelled Lau Preto. Not sure if it's the same as what you have. The wood I have is related to bocote, just more of a greenish brown color instead of the yellow color of bocote.
