New Wood, ( To Me )

Cook Woods had some nicely figured Kirandy wood on sale. I had never heard of it , but I bought a piece of it. Here's a few blanks I cut from it. It has nice waves of yellows and reds, kind of looks like flames. I'm quite happy about its appearance.

Nice. Looks alike like Canary wood. Have used that for some scrollsawn projects over the years. Cuts and finishes nice.

It does look similar to Canary wood. I'm gluing up a simple Celtic Knot to see how it finishes up.

I seen that but I have yellow heart and there's not much grain, it's just yellow.

Yea true yellowheart is yellow. I have not seen yellowheart with red in it. I seen with brown.

Same here, I've used yellow heart and never seen any red like that has in it

Sounds like most of you are pretty familiar with yellow heart, how bright of a yellow is it when finished? I have access to some and Im considering making a pen with it and walnut since those are my school colors

Likewise never seen any yellowheart that isn't just yellow. It is one of the few woods where you can get an even color throughout. It always looks good with a contrasting wood, like walnut. Yellow and brown also happen to be my high school colors.
