New Welcome to Richmond Sign

Just before the big bike race this past Summer, the Powers that be added a huge well landscaped "Welcome to Richmond" sign along I-95. As I was driving into work this morning, it occurred to me that the sign only welcomes travelers from the South and I am not aware of any similar signs for travelers from other directions. This puts an entirely new spin on Southern Hospitality. I think that we are hospitable to all travelers and hope the sign placement is only because that this was an ideal site for a big sign and for no other reason, but it does seem ironic.

I wanted to put up signs that say "Welcome to visit Arizona when done GO HOME"

Nobody wants to visit Minnesota at this time of year but honestly folks......The weather hase been wonderful these last 4 weeks. So get up here before the changes from Canada come flying in with 10 inches of snow.

Of course, 10 inches of snow isn't that bad either.

Well the weather has been miserable around New Orleans lately. The temp has been dropping down into the 50s every day. Heater to go to work and AC to get home.

There is an old joke here in the South that goes something like this: What's the difference between a Yankee and a darn yankee? A Yankee is just visiting.

Believe it or not, we have a Welcome sign to those coming from Oklahoma on I-44

There used to be a "Welcome to Durham" sign I passed on my way to work, but they took it down after somebody used it for drive-by target practice.
