I recently purchased a voice activated GPS and while out driving, I showed it to my wife. My "Wake up Dear" comment that caused it to start talking startled her and she almost dropped the GPS.:smile:

I've had garmins for years, but the last one I got is hilarious. She sounds more than slightly put-out when she says "recalculating."

I don't like the voice activated GPS.
Seems I talk to the radio while I'm driving, and the
GPS keeps recalculating. And apparently, it knows
the way to Hell.

I loaded the optional voices in mine, though. This is endlessly
amusing when I have passengers, they get to hear Ozzie
Osbourne say "you have reached your f-f-f-fookin destination"

I keep my wife entertained on long trips when I argue with it while lost or going my way. i usually end up telling her, the Garmin, to shut up (female dog). We are leaving tomorrow for our semi Annual Road Trip with my Brother in Law and my wife sister. There will be the Garmin, 4 cell phone set on GPS and at least 2 iPad using the Map App, plus assorted paper maps. I just keep us old people entertained on these 8hr drives.

I don't use the Map App for Ipods for any thing other than to look a the various routes, the mileage and time. I use Garmin to navigate. On our Road Trip we will be going from Boise Id to Post Fall ID, There are 3 routes the fastest is 7 hrs 18 min. it is mainly freeway type driving and is the way Garmin will point us. The way we are going is 8.5 hours and more scenic it will drive Garmin crazy trying to get us to go her way she will spend some time directing us. Once we are separated from her route for a little bit she will recalculate the correct way.
