so I stopped in for a coffee this morning and was chatting with the owner and asked if it would be alright if I pinned up a business card on his board. he was thrilled. that got us to talking and he was very interested in what I do. he asked if I could put together some kind of display to hang in his shop. he has a high end clientele, which of course is what I'm after. he supports a lot of local artists by hanging their art work in the coffee shop for sale. I don't think any of them have seen the likes of what we do. should be interesting. and of course i'll keep you all posted.

It will be interesting on how it goes. Coffee shops, and a couple of restaurants around here accept art work for display. The artist gets a little plaque displayed about their work, the shops get free decor items. Can't say I've ever thought about buying anything but coffee or food in those places.

A venue such as this is unlikely to become a source for a lot of sales. That is not intended as a negative point. It is not uncommon to have a potential buyer see the art, or in this case pens and purchase on impulse, or to register a thought that is triggered later when a need arises. Over the years I've had numerous "no sales" that became a call to purchase for a special gift later on. The point being that had the purchaser not been introduced to the art/pens they would not ultimately think of it later.

I'm definitely viewing this as a way to simply get my name out and possibly connect with a clientele i currently can't.
and trust me. the coffee bean blank is somewhere on my list of things to do. if not to sell then at least as a gift for the owner.
