When one gets upward in years, there comes a time when he must buy his own toys.

As I'm approaching the advanced old age of 30, I decided it was time I owned my own boat...so I just went out and bought one! :smile:

It doesn't have a motor yet, but it's a 14ft lund with a trailer, and it's all mine...it sure is a nice feeling owning your own toys! :biggrin:

(mid life crisis at 29 - doesn't bode well for 50!) :smile:

By the time you are 50, you have better sense.

Boat= a hole in the water, into which you pour infinite amounts of money and it returns incredible frustration.

I've never owned one, thank god, my friends did!!

Congratulations! All should own a boat once....but, you know the saying:
"Happiest day of my life was when I bought my boat....2nd happiest was the day I sold it!"

Yes, I have one too -- just not quite ready for that #2 happy day yet.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I've got a couple different one's with different boats.

Bass fishing-check
Water skiing/tubing/lounging-check

It's nice, I don't have to pay for gas to haul it or run it, and I don't have to clean it! :biggrin:

I use to have a nice bass boat, but decided to sell it to pay off somethings we felt more important. Don't miss working one, but sure do miss it when spring rolls around. We made a lot of family memories in that thing.
 
The two best days of a boat owners life, the day they buy and the day they sell it. I had a nice bassboat for a while but soon realized I lacked the time to enjoy it. Hope you have many fun times on yours.
 
I don't know that boats are that much work, guys...you just hose this one down, and bob's your uncle! :)

Mind you, the previous owner NEVER greased the bearings, judging from what I found under the bearing caps (he didn't even know what they were), so I've got some work ahead of me already!
 
Nice buy Im sure!! Looks good!......I went through my midlife at 30 and bought a runabout/open bow......now im 35 still have that one and a 14-42 fishing boat and a pontoon :eek: Dont let the boat bug bite ya as hard as it did me!!! The only thing better than being out on your boat is....is.........is....well, actually there isnt anything better than being out on your boat :smile-big: CONGRATS!!!
 
congrats on your boat..I've had a boat for 40+ yrs..fish every summer morning..gets me ready for my day..can't afford a motor yet..oars? paddles? just get out & enjoy
 
Congrats!

Don't mind all these naysayers! Boating can bring many great memories! My best memories growing up are from time spent on/around the water. We started taking the kids camping about 5 years ago and it's worked out so well we purchased a pop-up and a 21' bowrider. Looking to add a wakeboard tower soon as the kids are getting to the age size where they will want to start the trickier stuff.

Just don't go naming it anything portentous like 'shipwreck' or 'Leaky Transom'
that would be like naming your goldfish "Sushi" or your dog "Roadkill"
 
Andrew when I was a youngster you know under 30, I had a Ski boat it was hot, it had a Oldsmobile engine and was a lot of fun, I named it Miss Seaduckshin the sucker would pull 4 skiers and only burned 8 to 10 gallons of fuel an hour. But back then gas was only 30 cents a gallon. I still couldn't afford it.

Ed Ed Ed.... take a look at the pic in my profile LOL. I've owned a boat since I was a child & never have had one regret. She's just like your first love, just need to give it some TLC. On the other hand, my wife is more expensive!!!! LOL (but worth every penny :wink:)

Congrats Andrew!!! If you lived closer I would give you the 8 HP outboard that goes with that boat of yours.

(jeepers, how am I going to get ready for this wedding when I'll be on the lake all the time - I've seriously got fishing on the brain now!) I'm going to go make a few bottle stoppers, and THEN I can start thinking about getting the boat ready again! :smile:

You know .. bottle stoppers don't take up that much room on the lathe.
I'll bet there's room leftover to turn a couple of lures.. :tongue:
