There was some discussion about this a few weeks ago. I generally cut mine a little long, so I have reservations about something like this, but I guess I could always just insert a spacer.

I have one of them, and use it regularly. I love it. And yes, you can set it to cut to any length you want. I too like to cut the blanks a little long. This jig makes cutting lengths much faster, and no guess work.

I've been thinking about getting one off and on over the last month or two. I finally decided to give one a try and placed an order with PSI. It arrived a couple of weeks ago. I'm with Steve. I've become a big fan.

I have one and use it all the time. What I do is rough cut the blanks to about 1/4 to 1/2 " oversize, then drill the blanks then put them on the blank sizing jig and cut them to the EXACT size of the tube. Glue in the brass tubes. By doing this, you don't have to use a barrel trimmer as they are already squared to the tubes.

I don't have one but my Dad does, He holds the end of the jig about 1/8 back from the saw blade so he has a little material left for squaring to the tube.

You lost me James...

Woudn't the blank just be squared with the jig which is squared with the fence on the saw?

I can't see how this makes squaring up the blank with the tube possible... if it was drilled at an angle, it would still be at an angle yes?

... or am I missing something?

Just recently got mine in and it is really great. I backed my setup off about an 1/8 instead of cutting them the exact length so I could square them up with my trimmer (just to be sure). I even cut corn cobs to length with it and it worked just fine. For those who are "make your own" challenged, it is a keeper!
