Got a Jet 1220vs lathe for my birthday, and bought a bunch of the "other stuff" a bit over a month ago. I've finally found some time to play with it. Did a bunch of practice on cut down pine, made a couple of basic straight sided slimline pens, a bottle stopper, played with finishes, etc. I finally produced something worth showing (I think):

CDFpen01.jpg

Comfort grip kit (minus the comfort grip) in maple, bloodwood, and dyed black veneer, and finished with CA. The stripes simulate the paint scheme of the California Dept. of Forestry's firefighting aircraft.

It's far from perfect, with many points to improve on, but overall, I'm pleased.

Thanks for looking,

Colin

You should be extremely pleased. You put your new lathe to good use and did your research well. Not only is it a very nice finish but the over-all design is eye-catching as well as complimentary. Great Job!!
