New to turning!

Hi, everyone! I am new to turning, I just got my 1st mini lathe this past Sat. I have been watching youtube vids and here are my 1st 3 pens! 1st, 2nd and 3rd from left to right. The first one made from cocobolo, the second from walnut and the third I just finished is made of purple heart. I wish the purple heart was more purple.

Leave the purple heart in the sunlight it will get more color the longer it is exposed..

Welcome! Sometimes purple heart will darken with heat. I have used the back side of the sandpaper on a blank to do this. Go easy though! It can darken in a hurry

Welcome from Southern California! Great looking set of pens! Don't worry about the purpleheart, the color will come back. Sunlight is good for this, but prolonged exposure can cause issues with some finishes.
