New to turning from Yuma, AZ

Hello all,
I have been reading info on this forum for a while and finally made the jump to turning. I made my first pen, a redwood burl slimline, with a real hooyah of a Commander I was in training with in Pensacola, FL which really made me want to get in to penturning. This seems like an awesome community with an unbelievable amount of knowledge. Thank you all for letting me join.

I am just getting started. My wife gave me a Jet 1014 lathe to start this hobby for my birthday (I'm sure she will regret this in the future haha). I hope to learn a lot and turn some real winners in the future, especially as gifts to our Patriots in service to our Country.
