I started making pens in March 2020 when I found my old lathe and was bored. I upgraded and bought a new lathe. I have made a little over 60 pens and just enjoy this type of work. I give most of my pens to friends and family. I sold some but at too low of a price $25 for a kit that cost around $17. I am 73 and having a lot of fun in my old age. If a person gives me a piece of wood I don't have I make a pen for them and their spouse. Hoping to meet other fellow wood turners in my area of Welcome,NC

Welcome aboard from the Charlotte area. There should be a few pen turners in the Piedmont Triad Woodturners Association (AAW affiliate) that meets in the Greensboro area. There is also a woodturning club that meets in the Klingspore shop in Hickory.

We have an IAP chapter that is also affiliated with Waxhaw Woodturners (Carolina Piedmont Penturners Group) but that is likely a bit too far. We are meeting via Zoom for the time being and you are welcome to attend our Zoom meetings. Send me a PM if interested.

To send a private message, place your cursor over the members name in the left hand column of any forum page (like this one) and click.
You will see "Start Conversation" ... click on that.

If the members name is not in the left hand column, you can click on "Members" in the top line, search for the member name, and click on that.
Then click on "Start Conversation"
