Welcome Steve, from far west Kentucky, to the addiction, sometimes referred to as the vortex. Be sure to give the library a good bit of time. The link is at the top of the page. You will find an article called Library Index. This covers tutorials on about anything pen making you can think of. You will also notice that there are articles listed by year. Much good info there as well. When these fail to answer your questions, by all means post it here. I have never seen one go unanswered very long. You might also want to give this thread a good look. It has some very good info for the beginning pen turner; http://content.penturners.org/library/general_reference/Getting_started_in_pen_turning.pdf. Grab some wood, make some shavings and have fun all the while being safe.

are you sure you want to start making pens. If you do you will never be the same again. you will never look at wood the same again

Welcome to the group from Wichita Falls, TX!

welcome from Portsmouth, VA

welcome from Portsmouth. they are right. this is the most addicting thing ive been involved in. Great hobby. from us beginners to the old pros you'll find that it never stops being fun. and when you get good, real good, you still get excited when you do something new. i see that all the time from the best guys here and from us beginners. and of course, never be afraid to ask the "silly" question on here. there are always a hundred guys with the same question and afraid to ask.

again, welcome to the madness.

don't listen to the Nay sayers, you can quit anytime you want once you get started. Or at least that is what I keep telling myself and I am almost ready to quit(just one more pen and I am done)maybe 2
