Hello,

I was looking for a new type of project and stumbled across pen turning. I have made two pens and love it. I found this sight by watching a you tube video on finishes and he stated that he based his finish on one from here. glad to be aboard!

Welcome! By the way, there is a good pen kit/blank supplier in Colorado Springs -- Ernie at Bear Tooth Woods. I don't know if he has a "walk-in" business or just offers web sales.

Welcome aboard. I just moved to the Springs myself. Check out Woodcraft on Garden of the Gods, you'll see me there spending my son's college fund!

Welcome John! Glad to have you here. Join in the fun and post some picts of your work.

Below are links to some threads/articles that have lots of information on pen turning. The first one is a very basic overview of the many aspects of getting into turning pens.

The second link has postings by different pen turners and what they wish they had known earlier:

Here is another link - a PDF on the acronyms used here. I am sure you know many but this will help with those you don't.
