I got the HF 2 1/2 gal fixed it up with the plugs pipe removed no leaks holds good pressure but can only get about 35-40#s before the pressure valve pops

is 35-40#s enough for alumilite

I think HF is using lower rated pressure valves these days to cover their liability. I think mine had a 45 - 50 pressure rating, and my first one (about 14 years ago) was in the 60+ range.

Because I wanted 50lb maintained, I ordered a 60 lb one from Amazon (I think) and changed it out to a 60lb. I don't pressurize it that much but at least I can hold it at 50 without it popping off.
