I had a good dumpster dive at work on Friday and came out with 10 pairs of 25" ball bearing drawer sliders rated at 125#. Sweet!

With that and the general disarray that my 'shop' (2 car garage) is in, I think it might be time to make a new workstation with some drawers, but I'd like some creativity from others here to help steer me to a good design.

I have a 1 1/2" Oak Ply top already that is on saw horses that is 48" x 42" which I would like to use for the project as it is already taking up floor space and is a good working surface. I also have 4x 4" casters rated at 550# each, so a mobile workstation seems to be a good plan.

I was thinking about using 2 pairs of the slides to make slide out work surfaces as well, maybe employing a moving knot to prevent racking. Maybe do one 24" wide slide out shelf per side, which would leave me with 8 pairs left as drawers.

If you've made a great design or found one, please share it. Woodworkers often times have good shop ideas to integrate things etc that really make a functional item.

While it would definitely have pen turning implications, I do light metal work, CNC routing and all kinds of other home projects, so a non-dedicated solution would probably be best.

Kick out some ideas, guys (and gals)!!!

Sandy.
