Well , I finally went ahead and did it . After my accident I knew I would always be afraid of my previous saw and I think my wife was more concerned than I was . So I went to Home Depot 120 km away and got the Ridgid R4510 saw after doing a lot of research with the various models in its class of saws.

To say I am delighted with it is an understatement. I expected the features on the new breed of saws to be better but not this much better .

It came totally set up right out of the box. I spent an hour carefully trying to find something out of alignment or in need of adjustment . The only thing I could find was that the blade was 88 degrees to the table so I set it to 90 degrees . Did a few test cuts on squares and turned them every which way and they are dead on accurate to each other .
The riving knife takes just a few seconds to put into low or higher position. The kickback pawls take a couple seconds to add on for ripping. The plastic shield over the blade is two piece so you can see right through the center at the blade. .

That stand folds up and down in seconds like magic so the saw can be stored folded up in a corner out of the way when not in use. The guy at HD didn't have a clue how to operate the fold up stand and showed me the wrong way. When I got it home and read the manual I found he was doing it totally wrong and from the opposite end of the saw.
I can now take this saw outside whenever I want to for exterior work or honey do jobs . The big contractor saw would not fit through the door and weighed way too much if it could have .
With the slide out extend-able table it goes to six inches wider than my big table saw. .
Reviews of it being able to cut through 4 x 4 stock with ease turned out to be that what is normally considered a 4 x 4 is actually only 3 1/2 " x 3/12" . That was not a problem because it has the same depth capacity of my big heavy contractors saw. .

On top of it all , it's pretty hard to beat a lifetime warranty.

I bought the same saw a month or so ago. It is a great tool and I have really enjoyed using it. Got lots of projects lined up for the near future.

Heal quickly so you can put it to some serious work.

Congrats on the new saw!

If you plan to use it for cross cutting consider making yourself a crosscut sled as one of your first projects. Enjoy it!
