PSI has a new pen kit, the Saxa EDC click pen. The catalog says it's a 7 mm Cross style with a Schmidt SKM-192 clicker, a single tube in chrome, gun metal, and "golden", ranging from $9- $11 per kit. Catalog seems to say you can use slimline bushings. No ratings so far. Anyone turned one yet?

Roger I haven't turned this kit but I have turned others that use that click mechanism. It's smooth and easy to use. My opinion just looking at the catalog is that's a bit more than I'd like to pay for a slimline. I'm sure that's only because I'm used to paying $3-$5 for them!! It is a different pen though so apples to apples I think what they say. I was able to look past the wavy blank but I don't like the long nib. I see you load the ink cartridge through the top and that's why the single tube. I bet you could get a longer tube and use a nib from a regular slimline kit. I'll try one next time I order from PSI. Thanks for bringing this up. I wouldn't have taken a second look at it otherwise.

Interesting. Over 3" drilling with a 7mm bit--that's a potential issue on some materials. Going to take a sharp bit to stay on course in some grains.

Earl the original tube is 31/8". I don't know the difference between the two nibs but I'd cast a blank with the tube already installed. The way I've always thought about pen kits are that they are supposed to accent the blank. Also once I had a little practice drilling in my lathe the only issue might be having a drill bit long enough to go all the way through. I never had much luck drilling from both ends and meeting in the middle.

I've made one. No problems drilling it. I used mango. I like the kit, I have several friends who prefer slim pens.
