Hi my name's Rich and would like to introduce myself to the forum, only found you by a chance visit to another pen turning website.

I've turned pens and done general woodworking for 15+ yrs, Have been looking for a while for somewhere to share tips and advice on pen turning. Pen turning in the UK isn't that big but it is growing.

Its good to know that such an extensive range of knowledge is available to someone (me) who is constantly learning and picking up tips.
Look forward to joining in on some discussions.

Hiya Rich ( you're gonna need to be:biggrin: )

Where in the UK are you? We have quite a few Brits here on IAP, but they are a shy and quiet bunch ( except me and my buddy The Haggis )

Welcome Rich! We have quite a few members from the UK that I'm sure will chime in to say welcome as well.

Below are links to two threads/articles that have lots of information on pen turning. The first one is a very basic overview of the many aspects of getting into turning pens.

The second link has postings by different pen turners and what they wish they had known earlier:

Here is another link - a PDF on the acronyms used here. I am sure you know many but this will help with those you don't.

Thanks all for the warm welcome.
