Boas vindas! Welcome!

there is much information on resins in the CASTING forum. Also, many beautiful examples to try to make!

Welcome Felipe! You will find a lot of information on many topics. Use the different forums on here as well as the library (link is at the very top of the home page). The library has great articles.

Munto brigado....

Don't remember what that means but my fathers potugese lessons never really stayed with me.
Welcome from Texas. The casting threads have ALOT of useful information .

Hello again.

is coming today I bought the materials.

I bought polyester resin, epoxy resin, silicone mold. piguimentos opaque and transparent, and some security enhancements.

I'll post the photos coming products!

See you soon.

Good night my new friends!

I'm mixing the resins, think incredible mixes.

My first blank is almost ready, so expect a lack dry. I thought it was very beautiful, but in my view exaggerated. But this is just my beginning in the area. How is getting the first good or not, is already a very good thing! Wait for my photos my friends!

I'm trying to buy a lathe in order to make the pens.

Soon I'll need to buy accessories for pen and other things to improve quality and acabento.

I'm getting there!

Thanks for the post!

Ola Filipe, come estas...???

Hahahaha, all these Portuguese based words, flying around...!:smile:

First and utmost, welcome to the IAP, certainly the right place to learn lots of new and exciting things...!

I believe that Brasil will not be the easiest place to buy/find wood turning items, particularly, pen turning equipment/accessories, right...??? let us know...!

One of the things I know you have plenty of is wood and some of the most exotic wood in the world so, I only hope that you have access to them...!

I'm trying to remember of one particular wood species that we, back when I was in Portugal (place of birth) imported from Brasil to process into furniture and house products such as doors, doors frames, etc..., that was very nasty to the lungs and eyes. The fine dust was like pepper and unless we all had good dusk masks and eye protection, we would be "crying" and sneezing like mad for hours...!

I remember the wood was extremely heavy, very dense and like in colours, almost a creamy colour but, anything made from it and finished right was something else...!

Anyway, stick around, and let us see some of what you are doing, and so that you know, one of the main rules in IAP is "no photos...! didn't happen...!" we here like plenty of pics...!

Good luck

Cheers
George

Hi,

I have a few pieces of exotic wood from Brazil.

I specify the model and take pictures!
Anyone interested can talk!
Woods are rare and very tough!

Anyone??

follows the photos!

Come on,

These mixtures were not good, it was ugly in my opinion, but worth it. This was just to kill the anxiety. I was eager to get the resins and to do something! I added different colors to see how that is ... All of this was just the beginning. Now I will do with more skill and quality. I do vafazer of several ways and see which gets better and know the products!

It was not a beautiful mix, but I get it!

I was not turning too perfect. I did something to kill the desire to see my products!

I want to do anything like my penholder! I think beautiful!

But I get it!

Good night ....
bye

Hi Filipe,

Wow, you have a very unique way of combining colours and effects within those blanks...!

I can tell you that, no one here has produced (as far as I know) colours and mixers like those of yours and, if is something that I'm looking forwards to see, is how those blanks will look made into pens...!

You have developed a very interesting mixing and poor technique, improve all you like but stay withing that format, your blanks will be different than everyone else's, and that is a positive thing on its own...!

Good luck.

Cheers
George
