New lathe

I don't have anything to show that was made with it yet, but that should happen pretty soon.
I just finished the "burn-in" for the motor and brushes, now I just need to find/make bigger blanks... obviously an overkill for pens!

I was told when I first started looking for a lathe that " You can turn a toothpick on a 4 foot lathe but you can't turn a table leg on a 12 inch lathe". I wouldn't say " Over Kill" I'd just say your prepared.

Not overkill at all I turn pens on a Laguna 18-36 as the old saying says better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

The Nova was what I went to buy when I got my lathe, but the sales lady talked me into the JET1442 instead... wish now I had opted one step up to the JET1642 with the EV speed control.

By overkill I meant my usual pen blanks don't require a 7 inches clearance to the bed and are light enough that they don't require a 1hp motor to get spinning All of these technicalities definitely open new possibilities though.

She was cute, but her argument was that she had only sold one Nova the previous year and the buyer brought it back... he had broken the spindle shaft ??? ... it's been about 12 years since I bought mine.
