so i have had my Rikon 70-105 for about 2 weeks now. the first couple of things that come off of it were slightly off by about 16th of an inch out of round... i figured it was me putting to much torque on my mandrel or a number of other things... well after narrowing down pretty much everything under the sun that it could be (and talking to Rikon customer service with one of their techs on the phone) i came to the understanding that my spindle is bent. i bought the lathe from my local WC so i called them up and was told they didnt have anymore and didnt know when they would be getting them. so i called the customer service line. to my great surprise, i will have a new lathe at my door in a couple of days, and they are sending UPS to pick up the other once i confirm the new one is good to go... i have to say i am surprised at how easily they were like "ok how about a new one"... i was prepared for some resistance.
so i guess today is not a total loss
