Been lurking for a little bit trying to get my courage up to turn my first pen. I learned how to spindle turn less than a month ago, then found a catalog for Penn State and decided to order some pieces. Needless to say, I had a ton of fun, got home and ordered more. Think I still have CA stuck to my finger nails, lol

Welcome to the site! Looks like your off to a great start. Congratulations!
Your lucky you only have CA on your fingernails!
Many people here can attest to much worse!

Welcome to the forum!

You first pen looks A LOT better than mine did, so I'll refrain from "advice". Your transitions are smooth and overall, this is a very pleasing pen. I'm a "glossy finish" guy, but that's just my preference, AND a high gloss finish might just look "goofy" with this hardware choice.

I do like the fact that if you choose to go back and apply a glossy finish, you left yourself room to do it. I can never think that far ahead.

I will say that your photography looks about like my photography, and that's not bragging on either one of us! If you figure out photograpy, please send a PM as I am challenged, lately!

Thank you for all the great welcomes and compliments on the pen. I'll work on the photography some as well as making a pen rest to take pictures on. I'm really happy to be here and have gotten even more ideas floating around in my head because of all the genius already here.

Looks great! I think that's the catalog I left for John a couple months ago. Glad to see someone found an interest. Be aware that there are other firms out there to buy kits from. Also look into some of the Delrin Bushings if you plan to use CA. Some will say you don't need them, but I've found it really helps. PM me for the link.

Take care Tiara

Thank you all so very much.... Just figured I was being a newb by gluing most of fingers in some way shape or form......

Guess the true newb came out a couple of days later when I was gluing up my next blank and had some CA drop onto my toes in my sandals (I hate wearing proper shoes) Which promptly bonded toes and flip-flop. Lol, I'm probably using to much glue, still trying to get my technique just right
