Just finished making a handle and stainless steel ferrule for a gouge I picked up this past week end at the Virginia Woodturning Symposium. Over all length is 23 inches.
Also discovered a new use for my old rusty dead lathe centers that have been stashed for years. Cut a four notches on the cup ring and use them as live centers on the headstock. Make the notches with a dremel or chainsaw file. They work similar to a safety drive. Turned the handle using the one in this photo and really liked the idea and performance of the new center
