new kid on the block here, I found the forum while looking for something and found a great community here and decided to join the same day I found it.
I like the well organized articles and bits of help there is here and hope that I can contribute in a positive way.
I was introduced to the lathe in 1980 while in high school and have been turning pens since about 2003, and have been a woodworker for longer than that. what can I say, its a great hobby!

Welcome Arvin.

Might not be anything new but below are links to two threads/articles that have lots of information on pen turning. The first one is a very basic overview of the many aspects of getting into turning pens.

The second link has postings by different pen turners and what they wish they had known earlier:

Here is another link - a PDF on the acronyms used here. I am sure you know many but this will help with those you don't.

Is there anyone in Texas NOT making pens? how do you find enough customers?

No kidding! It's a good thing I sell from my website, looks like every eith person you meet on the street has a pocketful of pens!

Welcome aboard Arvin, if you ever want to visit, I'm retired and my shop is always open to guests when I'm home! Saginaw to Azle... probably 12 miles apart!

I will third that but then again does anybody live in Michigan ;-) anymore seems everyday I see out of state tags. Couple years ago they were Michigan now it seems a three way tie with Cali, N. Dakota and Ohio.

Welcome to the forum. With the experience you have I am sure your input will be a great addition to an already great forum.
