Hi Everyone!

i'm new on to this business, i have read and seen a lots of videos and i am very interested in wood turning especially penurning.

how can i get complete materials/equipments that i need (lathe machine, kits, accesories blanks and so on..) just to start the hobby.

it would be better if you have a second hand tools just to start and to learn)

i am working in dubai and i would like to bring it to the philippines.

Hi Ariston and welcome to the forum. As for the lathe, we would need to know what voltage is available, and also what the voltage is in the Philippines, as a transformer may be required to operate in either country.
From what I have read here, a lot of people like the Jet lathe or the copies of it, if your voltage is 110, look up some of the suppliers in the USA, Woodcraft, CSUSA (Craft Supplies USA) as an example. If the voltage is 240, as in Australia, try Woodfast, Carbatec, Hare and Forbes. There are others, whether they ship O/S is another problem. As for kits and supplies Timberbits are extremely good on price and service, and they do ship world wide. I believe they have a Starters Kit which has a pen mandrel, pen blanks, several pen kits, and tools. If wanting second hand tools look in the classifieds on here, or on Australian woodworkers forum where they have a classified section also. Some times they become available, getting it there might be the costly bit though.

Kryn

Hi Kryn!

We have 230v...

What im planning is to buy everything here in dubai from USA. Its more cheaper here than sending it straight to the Phils. I also thought that jet could be the best choice

Maybe i will try to check on your list given.

Thank you for your feedback, very helpful..

Do a searh for this question. There have been several topics where a starter list of 'things' to have has been given.
Personally, if you can find a 'used lathe' locally and start with that, it might be better. That way, if you loose interest, you don't have that much invested. Are there any local turners that might be able to help you? Sometimes they might be upgrading either equipment or tools. Just a thought.

Good luck and welcome
