Howdy, my names Bob and I am new to wood crafting. I have however taught myself to turn pens thanks in part to the info on this site. I was given my father in-laws Shop Smith 10-ER which used to be his fathers. Anyhow I figured that I could learn to turn pens and then teach my two daughters for a little quality time.

They have since made their own pens and want to turn more to give as Christmas gifts. Wait till Grandpa gets his pen with pictures of his granddaughters making it on his fathers Shop Smith.

This hobby is great; I haven't had to buy blanks because of the beautiful wood in my firewood pile.

Firewood piles are always a great source of pen blanks. Although the quality time with your daughters and the history is even better.

Of course you have to remember the rules. No pictures it never happened.
