New camera gloat

Since about the only place I use a camera is taking pictures of my pens and other turnings I guess this would classify as a new tool. A couple months ago my son decided he needed a new camera his old one just wasn't good enough so he got a new one. We went to their place a week ago to look after our grandaughter while they went to the Dominican for a weeks holiday. Before they left he hands me this package and says "You can keep this as long as you want" His old camera an Olympus C 8080. I don't know much about cameras but it is a big step up from the point and shoot I was using. I played with it over the week to learn some basic functions but I have a lot to learn with this thing. Here is the first pen picture I took with it, other than resizing to 800 px there was no editing of the picture at all. I think I'm going to like it.

That camera looks like it's got a lot of good features.

This looks like an awesome camera. If this was your first try, you'll soon be in business as a studio shooter... :wink:

The best part of this photo is that even though the pen is not parallel to the lens, the entire pen is in focus. With a bit of practice and tweaking in Elements (or whatever you have), they'll be spectacular...

I did learn enough on this site to set the F stop to maximum in this case 8 which is why it's in focus. With the other camera I have I had to play with the unsharp mask setting in Paint Shop Pro to get it to look in focus.
