My new avatar is a very rare flowering shrub, Ruth's golden aster. It only found in the Hiwassee River and Ocoee River corridors in east Tennessee. If you ask the forestry service people where to find it, they are very silent as the shrub is endangered due to habitat changes with river flows and tourists walking all over them or pulling them. I found it through a friend who is a walking encyclopedia for the flora found along those rivers.
