Myrtle cut at 60 and 45 degrees.
Usually segmented pieces, when turned, have a couple of 'good' sides and 2 not so good looking.
This blank shows a different look on all 4 'sides'

I strongly agree with you that many segmented blanks have some great sides, and some not so great. Every now and then we get lucky when we get a clean 4 sided turned visual (or skilled after trial and error to tweak our process). Usually it is the alignment rather than the pattern - Criss-cross, herringbone, chevrons, ovals, celtic knots, etc. The basic pattern may be fine, but the spacing, alignment and inner spaces may be out of alignment or simply not even. I usually look at the left and right side alignment when turning the blank; and then the inner spaces between the veneers.

In your blank above, each side - 1) ovals, 2) crossing ovals (lack of a better term), 3&4) crossing 5 layered veneers; your spacing is great!
