I have an odd error message on my site that says:

warning.gif
Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/content/e/v/i/evichin/html/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file (read-only, CHMOD 644 or 444 are typical).

How do I get rid of this?

Heres my site: http://www.poconopens.com

The answer to that question will depend on the software your web host uses. If your host gives you cPanel access to control your account (which is common for linux based servers), you can log into your cPanel account, open "File Manager", navigate to the directory listed, right-click on the file configure.php, click "Change Permissions", and change the access to read-only for user, group, and world. Numerically, this is 444.

Then if you ever need to modify this file, you'll have to change it to 644 before editing, and back to 444 when done.

I hope that helps,
Eric

You can also ftp into your server and set the the permissions with your ftp client. I personally use flashfxp but most clients you can simply log into your server, browse the file in question, right click file 'set chmod'.

Dang. I knew this was an international site, but that was some interesting foreign language!!

I went from Ebay to ETSY and now I'm ready to just have my own site.

My domain is registered with Network Solutions. I don't do cheesy and it would have to look professional and flow well and be secure for purchases. Can you guys make some suggestions with your experience? What might be my next step?

Sorry for crashing your thread. I can post this on it's own elsewhere, but those responding to this might just be the one's I'm looking to give some advice for the next step. Any help/ pointers would be appreciated.

Martin
