Need new refill problem

Hi folks, one of my wife's slimline pens needs a new refill, and I can't get it apart. I don't want to resort to heavy handed methods which will likely break it. Any ideas?

Slimlines just pull apart - the upper portion of the body is a friction fit to the transmission. Why is your pen stuck?

First thing that comes to mind is to put on rubber gloves to get a better grip on the upper and lower parts of the pen.

What Louie said. Should be an easy replacement unless you got glue in the parts and it stuck that way.

And if someone got glue on the parts, I think you need to make a new pen for your wife. It doesn't matter who that 'someone' is - it's now your fault and you have to fix it.

At least that's the way it works in my house.

I think I must have gotten glue in it.

Looks like a small crack just below the trim ring. If the aforementioned "someone" put CA in that crack, it might have glued the lower piece to the transmission, which is going to be a mess to get apart.
