Need info on a Jet 18" BS

I am purchasing a band saw tomorrow. It was going to be the Rikon 14" Deluxe but I ran across a used Jet 18" 1 1/2 hp saw (Model JW5-18).

I have not been able to find anything on the Jet saw with the model number I was given. Supposedly it's a few years old lightly used. Any info on the Jet BS would be appreciated.

The Jet web site shows a JWBS-18X you might take a look there.

I looked at the Jet Websites and the model does not match up. Its could be an older model than they have on their web site.

Only 1/2 hp on an 18"????? That doesn't sound good.
Unless you can buy very-very cheaply and replace the motor, I would avoid.
As has been suggested, it may be a very old model.

Jet

I ended up getting the Jet because it was a lot cheaper even with the Rikon being on sale.

The model number I was given was incorrect. It is JWBS-18 (no X or QT)
It came with some extra blades, fence and miter gauge.

The only drawback that I see is that the resaw height is around 10-1/2 inches compared to 13 on the Rikon.
