My wife won some (i think they are predrilled) as a door prize at MAPG. I am afraid of blowning them out. I am thinking of getting them close, but how should I get them to final size?
Mike,
I have turned several of John U's feather blanks and they are simply the "best". Alan is right, use sharp tools. I also turn to size and have no problem with blow out on these blanks. I turn with a Ken Ferrell carbide tool.
I had one on John's feather pens on display at the MAPG; don't know if you saw it. It was on a rhodium Jr. Gent.
If you are in Richmond sometime, let me know, and you are welcome to turn it in my shop.
