I have these two electric motors for sale and I need to figure out how much to ask for them. The first is a 3 HP...

The other is a smaller 1.5 HP motor, but it has a special switch on it that I know little about, other than being told it would be expensive to replace...

I'm a little suspect of the nameplate on the first. How do you get 3HP on 110v, 12A? What type of service did it see? I'd be wondering about bearings and the capacitor on a 40 year old motor. Maybe $150 if running smoothly with no bearing slop.

The special switch is a NEMA 0 motor starter with integral thermal overloads. That motor is old too, so same question about cap and bearings. Maybe $100 if running well.

Good Catch Jeff. Even in 1984 it still took about 20 Amps at 110V to get 3HP. - Dave
