My 1942 Atlas lathe needs a piece for the tail stock, it is the clamp underneath that clamps to the rails/ways. The original is cast and cracked in 3 pieces. I'm not sure what it should be made from and it is unavailable to purchase. It is about a 11/2 wide by 21/2 long with a recess for a square nut and a slotted hole. If any one knows anywhere that this part can be found or even made please let me know. I do not have any local machine shops with in a hr from me so I dont mind farming it out.

If you have a technical school nearby, it would be worth calling to see if they could help. I know when I was in the welding class at mine they did have some odd projects like that come through the door. You may just have to have a new one milled out to meet the old specs.

Check out www.owwm.org, it's a forum for older wood and metal working machines. They have a classified section (called Bring Out Your Dead) where you might find what you need. You can post WTB in there as well. It's a great site for those with older machines. Hope this helps.
