Have a chance to buy a 2008 Harley sportster 1200 with less then 2000 miles on it.
He said he paid $12,000 for it. Also whats to sell his wife's 2008 Sportsters 883.
Both were bought at the same time. He wants 7,000 for the 1200 and 5000 for the 883.
Is these good bikes and is the price fair for either one?

Ask him if he can throw in a kidney belt.

Jack, you need to check the condition of the bikes as well as the care given to them. I can buy big twins all day long for around $6000 that are in great shape. I wouldn't pay that much for a sportster.

Having just sold a motorcycle I can tell you that they are going cheap. We got a little above NADA book and were lucky. Check book and offer that. Lots of people getting rid of their toys right now. It is a buyer's market.

IMHO that is too much for a Sportster. As mentioned already, bikes are cheap right now and you should be able to find better bikes for about the same money.

Way too much for an 08 1200, even if it is a loaded xl1200 Custom. You can buy those here for $5000 or less.

In the old days, a 1200 would vibrate so badly that you couldn't feel your hands or feet after 50 miles. Around 2005 HD rubber mounted the motor on the sporty and they are not as bad now.

This bike is mint. But I'm going to pass on it.
Neal if I can't find one local, I just might have to ask you for a little help finding a good bike.
