I was out yesterday and accidentally landed at the woodcraft store somehow.

I picked up things to make these two beauties.

The fountain is the first fountain pen I've made. It is a kingwood blank with sterling silver fittings. It really is nice to write with and has turned a few heads at the office so far today.

The rollerball is also a kingwood blank, but with chrome fittings.

Also, for your viewing pleasure, is a duck call. I picked up the chrome band and the green soundboard awhile back. We just had a black walnut tree pruned and could think of no better material to use for this.

very nice turnings, love the non plastic look of your wood, how did you finish em?

Thank you.

The finish on these are just a friction polish I got from Craft Supplies USA. With this batch, I didn't just put it on, let it dry, then buff it. This time when I applied it, I kept it on until I saw some smoke coming from the paper towel. I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out, but I like the results.
