What bushing does the Nauka Pen take? Also where can I get them? I have a friend who wants me to teach him how to make these but since I have NEVER turned one of these, I'm a little lost. I also can't find Any bushing what-so-ever. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Alisa Beth,

I think I need to try to answer you question with a question: Have you ever made a kitless fountain pen? Because that is what you are going to need to be able to do to duplicate this pen. No tubes, no bushings; just knowledge and skill.

It's all available here. Start out by checking the library then ask some questions.

Don't want to sound discouraging, but this is a big step up on the learning curve if you haven't done it.

So, I don't see a line where the front section meets the body. Are the cap threads part of the front section and the intersect is right next to the threads? I'm trying to understand how to refill it and possibly duplicate the design. Very cool looking pen.

Section meets the body about halfway up the body

i have made designs similar to this (attached pics), and I quite enjoy them. They aren't much more difficult than a normal kitless pen with standard cap thread placement, but due to the threads being on the end of the section rather than the barrel, the section can sometimes be unscrewed from the barrel when the cap is unscrewed. ASA pens gets around this by having the cap leave a portion of the section exposed when the cap is screwed on. That way you can grip the base of the section when unscrewing the cap, preventing the section from unscrewing as well. As far as the actual construction of the pen goes, you will need to be versed in the basics of making kitless pens, of which there are some good resources on here and YouTube for.

There is a German company that has a thread forward kit (dns-Master) that can be made to look like the Nauka. You can see one half way down the page as the kit types scroll by, it's the last in the line before returning to the beginning. https://www.drechselstube.de/schreibgeraete.php I have no idea if they ship overseas. https://www.drechselstube.de/accessoires-werkstoffe/schreibgeraete-briefoeffner/junior-master.html They would fit in difficulty to make somewhere between a regular kit pen and a scratch built pen like the ones jalbert is showing. You'll need to make some of your own tooling or buy the special mandrels et cetera when you get the kits. How's your German?
