I've had a request for a salt and pepper mill set made from naturally dark gray wood. I can't find any. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Cypress but you'll have age it after turning about a year. There is a finish that can be applied that will age it quicker. They use to use it on cedar and cypress siding on Acadian styled house back in the 80s. Sorry I don't know the name of the finish.

Irish Bog Oak can have a dark gray to black color.

I'm at my in laws until tomorrow around noon. The Estate blank boxes has some larger spindle blanks - maybe 2" x 2" x ?. I'll check tomorrow when I get home.

I made 4 sets for my son-in-laws country club restuarant from Spectraply Charcoal... it's natural wood, but veneers dyed and pressed.... it's also a little pricey.... but might solve your problem.
