Yep, looks like SE Oklahoma right now. I'm really liking it but you folks aren't used to it. Just turn up the heat in the shop and have fun!!! I ended up with 3-4" and like it while it's here. Just hate the slush/mud afterward.
 
ANd the "weather/man/woman" are saying this mess is going to 'possibly last until the weekend.'

Heck, I will have to eat my parrot, cat, AND two dogs by then. The cold has always given me a huge appetite. AT least I know how to skin and dress my own and have a fireplace to cook on if the power goes out ... Oh boy, what fun then.

Stay warm everybody and most of all stay dry.

You are assuming that stuff still works in South Georgia when it snows.....It don't! Everything comes to a grinding halt.

Oh well, it'll only last a couple of days here.
 
We barely have electricity and cable when it's 80 degrees outside! The makes the ridiculous a Shakespearian tragedy!

We have a fireplace, it's easy to track rabbits, but the dog is too small to make much of a meal.

Our snow is all gone. Heard on the radio (from Milwaukee) it's been snowing all day--we haven't had a flake (30 miles).

They are saying the roads are really slippery as the one I am driving on is DRY.

Moral: Don't believe everything you hear on the radio!!

Oh, and visit Wisconsin--the weather is GREAT!! (got up to 23 ABOVE today!!!!)

For the record, flat-land rednecks HATE weather below 50 degrees!
 
I'm telling ya, it's rough down here too. All the way down below forty! I had to put on socks under my shoes to keep my feet warm, and I got halfway (20 feet) to the office and had to turn around to go back in the house to get a flannel shirt to go over my pink floyd t-shirt to make it to work this morning! What's the world coming too?

Yeah. Rub it it! Go ahead and buy you some Mexican fruit and nuts! You won't be getting any "Indian River" fruit, Georgia peaches, peanuts, or pecans antime soon.

At least it is finally "cold enough to kill hogs" here. There will be plenty of BBQ this spring!
 
Oh quit yer bellyaching , jeez a couple of inches and it's the end of the world !!!! After it visits you guys it's on it's way here to drop another foot of the damn white stuff !!!!

In Illinois we like homemade soup in this kind of weather. Hope your nice sunny warm winter weather returns soon. Ours is going to be cold for another 3-4 months :(

We got nearly 7 inches of snow here on top of a sleet frozen ground, followed by a full day of frozen rain. The only mode of transportation is either 4 wheeler or Jeep. Additionally, down in rural Georgia, most power, cable and telephone lines are overhead.

The VERY few stores that are open and have electricity don't understand "snow shovel", no matter how slow you say it. Salt in any quanity above a "big" box of Morton Kosker salt has been gone since Thanksgiving.

Additionally, rural areas mean no "city water", meaning electrically driven water pumps. We live on a lake, so we can draw water from the lake and "bucket" flush.

I once saw a snowplow in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in Atlanta. It didn't work, so some redneck bought it and put it on a float to get on TV.

We could "sand" the roads, EXCEPT the sand pits all turn to "quick sand" in frozen slush.

To say that we are unprepared for frozen precipitation
is kinda like saying Hitler was a bit "cranky":) We WILLsurvive, because everybody here hunts (in fact, many cities in Georgia REQUIRES residents to own firearms). BUT we have enough to overcome here!

Andy , you know I'm just kiddin ya .
The only saving grace here is no ice storm to deal with . As for the snow , the town I live in used it's entire years buget and salt cleaning up after the 30 + inches we got from the blizzard of 2010 which means there will be no money left to clear another 12" here so my street won't see a plow or salt during this storm .
There's no salt or deicer left in any of the stores around here either so we are feeling your pain . At least you guys will warm up a little soon , temps here will be staying below freezing for at least the next 10 days (according to the forcast) so this stuff will be around for a while .
As for the 4 wheel drive trucks and jeeps , around here the idiots that own them think they are invincable and drive like they know what they are doing (which they don't) the only problem is they can get going with no problems (70 mph) and things are great until they try to stop :beat-up::mad: one of them took out a pole and the electricity for 5 hours during the worst part of the blizzard , we had running water but the water kept freezing in the bowl :frown: .

I knew you were just kidding, AND I was just whining.

We really unprepared here since it only happens once or twice every couple of hundred years! AND, I really do feel your pain! I was in Lawrence Harbor several years ago, and if my poor memory severs me correctly, it is a coastal/resort area, too? This stuff really screws up our #1 product-TOURISM! I do empathize with you, your area has been hit hard! Both with weather and economy.
 
Now, Gentlemen, just "chill out".

(In Wisconsin, we really don't care for that phrase, since we are "chilling" 11.75 months per year!!)

Just put on every piece of winter clothing you own and go snuggle in bed. Tomorrow morning, wake up, look out the window and "call in, snowed in". You can do that in your part of the country. (Here they send a damn snow plow out to "rescue" you---can't they spell DAY OFF!!)

IF you decide to shovel snow, remember not to lift too much and take frequent breaks. If you have a gas "range", you can even make coffee!!!! (Fresh fallen snow works as water, Andy)

If things get desperate, just "phone a friend" in Wisconsin, we'll get a kringle to you!!

Yes we are a coastal (resort ???.....no) town , I'm a block off the beach . This is a poor little town that gets hit hard when these kinds of storms hit . Since we normally only get 12" to 18" of snow for the whole winter a storm like the last one does us in so this one is gonna hurt big time . Taxes are gonna go through the roof paying for these storms , and the winter is just begining here , we get our worst storms in Feburary so I'm really not looking forward to the rest of this winter .
