Finally nailed the CA finish. My procedure is as follows if anyone is interested. Plus, a terrible pic of a polaris will my ca finish.

Step One: Sand through MM to 12000
Step Two: Wipe with VERY LITTLE BLO and turn on lathe to about 2000RPM and buff it dry. This helps to POP the grain.
Step Three: 5-6 drops of gap filling 5-15 sec. CA quickly wiped the length of the blank ONCE making sure not to slop it on but get a nice even coat.
After spinning in the lathe for a minute, turn the lathe off and let stand for two more minutes. A good indicator of when the CA is dry is to keep holding your paper towel applicator in your hand. and watch it. Fumes will poof out suddenly and the heat of the curing CA in the paper towel will begin to dissipate.
Repeat Step Three a couple of more times until you are satisfied with the thickness of your multiple thin coats.
Step Four: Sand through MM all the way to 12000.
Step Five: This might make some of you cringe, but I go ahead and apply HUT's PPP white stick. It's the second one in their progression of PPP sticks. It goes on very well and gives the entire piece a nice uniform gloss.
Step Five: Here's another cringer. I just really like Johnson's Paste Wax. With the lathe off, I wipe on a quick layer, let is dry, take the mandrel and all to my DRY and PLAIN buffing wheel, and buff the wax out.

Guess we all have our ways of doing CA. I just got a bit excited when I finally got it to work for me. I'm sure I'll learn more, but thanks to all who have helped from this site!
