My neighbor just got back from a mission trip to Nicaragua this past week and presented me a sweet block of mystery wood measuring 3.5 by 4 by 22 inches. I get to cut off 6 inches for pens. She'll be giving the rest to another woodworking friend of hers. I think it is Cocobolo Burl, however, I'll defer to the expert judgment of the members here. I told her what I thought it was and what a gem it is. She is definitely getting "pick of the litter" on the pens I make from it. BTW, she got it for free.

What say you?

John

Just cut off 6" and re sawed into blanks. Definitely Cocobolo; not burl unfortunately, but beautiful grain and coloring nonetheless.
