Mystery wood cartridge pen

I ordered a PSI cartridge pen with a maple burl blank and I don't think it is maple, maybe walnut? Any insight would be helpful.

It looks a little light for walnut. I have lots of maple that colour especially if you put oil on it. Looks just like the maple I have.

Hard to tell from the pic but don't base your opinion on the color alone. Maple Burl can range in color from very blond to dark brown.

From what I can see in the photo I'd say it's Maple.
