My wife is a pen turner and a quilter; amazing how similar some of the detail is, especially for planning, piecing, and segmenting.

I just heard "specialty ruler make hard measurements easier" - how true that is!!

Me too! I quilt, turn and have a scroll saw. The scroll saw and quilting have a lot in common. Phew...I thought I was the only one.

I'm a quilter too. I am finding myself trying to figure out if certain quilting 'blocks' or patterns can be done in the tiny space of a pen blank. LOL
It really does have a lot in common with pens sometimes!

You are not alone.

I'm assuming you know that you can cast fabric. I'm not a quilter so I wouldn't know but if you can put whatever your doing with the fabric around a pen tube just cast it then turn your pen.

I did quilt before I got into wood working and I scroll and turn. Just started turning about a week ago or so. I haven't sewn a stitch in over 3 years as I along with my sister have been caring for our folks who are no longer with us. One day I may get back into it. At least if we have to move out of this house, it'll be some thing to do on the colder months... Fay you now what they say.. measure twice ,, cut once..

My wife enjoys quilting when she get the time. I am usually pressing fabric and cutting while she works on layout, stitching and quilting. We make a great team!

I made a few stained glass quilt squares for a couple of her quilting friends.
This one is a front door transom for a quilting friend. It is about 6" X 30". This pic was before I installed the piece.

Wow, that is beautiful work Charlie! I sure wish I could trust hubby to do some 'cutting' for me. LOL
