As you can see in the first picture, the blank went poof after putting a finish on and then touching it up with a carbide tool to take a slight out of round burr off.
I found 2 of the major pieces from the blow out, but had to fill a bunch in with shavings and CA. Honestly I can't find the patch job now that it's finished so I'm quite happy with the recovery.
Don't throw your work away just because of a mishap. Many, even serious ones, can be recovered with a little time and patience.
