I hate it when I finally come to the conclusion that I am the one causing myself to not get things done. Now, if I could just get past it.

I am sure I am not the only one this happens to. How do you folks get past the creative road blocks?

Mark there is the method we use, it called the s.t.f. method, Stumble Trip and Fall. Seriously though, the creative block is the worst, and almost as bad as getting in the production rut.
Keeping things changing is pretty difficult, and you will waste some wood and tubes, or turn some nice firewood, I've done both.
We find that time management is our worst enemy, we put so many hours into making the tools and handles we run out of time for turning.

The first thing I do when I hit a wall is clean the shop. I find a lot of times when I'm just not feeling it is because I'm working on something that I know is not going to turn out well and just throwing it in the trash can makes me feel better. Then I look at the last page of my little black book( get your minds out of the gutter:biggrin:) where I write down new ideas that I need to try and get started on one of them. Usually I've been thinking about how to do them and now it is time to experiment and DO them. A lot of wood will end up in the trash can and the first one won't look that great and will partially done on a shelf, but once again you are having fun. By the way right not my little black book is a small red composition notebook. My wife burned the little black one a LOT of years ago.

I joked about the honey do list right before I got married and my wife swore up and down that she would never do something like that. I can't sue her for breech of verbal contract, I checked.

Women lie a lot....especially to a man BEFORE the wedding.
