Few weeks ago I posted a gloat about some burl chunks I found. Only problem was I didn't have a band saw big enough. Offered to share the wealth with whoever would cut it up for me but got no takers. SO, I got this:

Came with free riser block:D (which they were out of stock of:() Finished cutting one chunk of it up this weekend, it was nice. Think I"ll wait for the riser block before I do the others.

I'll post pictures of the wood when I get it all cut. Maybe even sell some and let you all help pay for the bandsaw.:D;)

I must have missed the post about cutting the burls. I am planning on buying a large saw in the near future, what brand did you get and how do you like it? Also what is the resaw capacity of it?

It is a "Pioneer", the salesman claimed it is a sister company of "Jet", don't know that I believe him. The cutting height is 6" and after I install the riser block will be 12". Blade width is 1/8" to 3/4" and length is 93.5" or 105" w/riser. It works really well and I'm very happy with it. I had no problem cutting up the burl. I got it from a local store "Western Tool & Supply". Cost was about $460.

Yeah, my whole shop used to look like that before I got addicted to turning. Had to clean most of the bench off so I could use my grinder and have somewhere to put the drill press and disc/belt sander. Don't tell Stevers as he's seen my shop and wont believe you but I'm slowly turning into a neat freak. Couple of weeks ago I bought a shelf unit to clear my table saw (which I promptly refilled with other stuff[:I]) of a lot of my turning supplies and today I bought a bigger shop vac so maybe I'll vacuum more often :D

I thought I was the only junkie. My wife forced me to build a shop seperate from the house. At the time mine was in the basement. Now when I say forced I should explain. I had been wanting to build a shop out next to the barn for years but she was against it. So as I am a collector of stuff I just junked up my shop until you couldn't walk from the basement door to the laundry room. That's when the wife had enough and let me BUILD. I first had to agree to get rid of some of the crap. Well three 40 yard dumpsters later I have my shop.

Oh, also a nice compact saw looks like it doesn’t take up much room. Leaves plenty of spacs for stuff.
