I tried a new finish yesterday that turned out fantastic. I have done CA finish, but react to it funny and don't like to do it. I do it every now and then, when it is needed.
I sanded through 400, 2 coats myland's cellulose sanding sealer, finished sanding through 2000. Then, I buff with the higher micro mesh grits. EEE ultra shine. BLO, then mylands high build fricition polish. When all cools and rests, I cover it with Renaissance wax. The results were awesome. Best finish I have done. It was a piece of Pink Ivory for my wife. She picked the blank out about a month ago, so I made a pen for her for helping me with my show.

Coach,
Please let us know how the finish holds up, and whether you see any cracks in the PI after a few days/weeks. Some have suggested that the heat associated with FP may contribute to PI cracking.

Oh, and where's the pic??? :)

bump... any new info on this method, Coach? btw- hope you don't mind I sent you an email about this too.

This may be a stupid question but I want to learn. Why the BLO? If you have sealed the wood, it won't pop the grain or add any color correct? Does the BLO add something else?
