Beautiful! Can I ask how those were made?
kronewi and I have written two tutorials on segmenting , which are posted in our IAP library ( listed under resources ) . Take a look at those . The three blanks in the center of my picture are the herringbone design which have many tutorials written by various other authors . Just takes practice . Send me a PM if you have more questions .

Thanks Mark. How are you ? Any woodturning ?
Doing well all things considered. Turning, no. That chapter has ended - no regrets, but very, very fond memories. My time as a middling turner/segmenter are meaningful for that time in my life. Wife and I moved/downsized (a town 15 miles north), no room for a shop to tempt me. I love the IAP community and will support it as long as I can.

Take care my friend.

Very nice looking blanks. As a fellow segmented I have a question. What is the reason/purpose for creating octagonal blanks?
Good question . No real reason . Dummy me thought maybe a pen maker would want to make a pen that had a octagonal shape . It is easier and faster to turn them round so that is what I do. You have a good eye to see that three of the blanks are octagonal cross section.
