I have been occupied learning my CNC, which at the moment is more or less dedicated to helping a friend who makes guitars. I thought that I had better get back to some pen turning before I forget how to do it. The other day my guitar making friend gave me big chunk of wood that had been a clock surround that he had been given. It was covered in multiple layers of gloss poly, front and back. However, when I started to cut it up I discovered that it was all maple burl! I could not believe that someone would cover it up like that. So, I made a pen from a piece with a gold Luxor click pen kit - attached. I think that there will be more pens with the maple burl.
